I only have 6 shifts left with my preceptor before I go solo. At this point I can do about 90% of a 4 patient work load. Time management is by far my biggest issue with 4 patients. I have yet to leave work on time on a day that I have 4 patients. I still have days where I'm overwhelmed but those seem to be decreasing. I finally started my first successful IV today. Lately, It seems I spend more time at work than at home. I have made friends with my other single friends and even went out and grabbed drinks after work one day. I got to hangout with one of my close friends (we've been friends for 3 years, crazy how much time flies) and it was so nice to just be with someone who feels like home. As much as I love my life here, I often find myself feeling really outside my comfort zone, so even spending 2-3 hours in my comfort zone was really rejuvenating. I have lived here for over a month now. Friday is supposed to be our first day with a high in the 40s and a low in the 20s. I switch to night shift on Monday and depending how the first week or so goes but the pay differential was just increased so there are a lot of incentives to do straight nights.
